Well, this has no outside links and therefore isn't a blog item, but here it is anyway.
I'm a big fan of both Husker Du and the song "Eight Miles High." I have several copies of the song on my Pod, originals and covers. In one of the covers by Husker Du, recorded live at Larry's in Toronto, there's some crowd chatter that I think is humorous.
Here it is (it's a 24KB mp3).
For me, of course, there's no debate. Husker Du is undoubtedly my favorite of the genre. The idea that one could even converse at a Husker Du show, based on my experience, is so notable that I can only conclude this song was an encore and not part of the set list. They are *loud*. Even the screwing around between songs was loud. The only louder band I've seen is Metallica, and I think they are on The Who order of loud.
The only time I saw the Huskers perform this song was as an encore, but while off-stage, Bob left his guitar leaning on the amp causing five minutes of very loud feedback.
