I've mostly not been updating because all my computer energy has been sucked away first by malfunctioning equipment and then by new equipment.
I'm happy to announce that I have been reunited (and it feels so good!) with a Toshiba Portege. I bought the 366Mhz model with the big screen and DVD dock on eBay for $713.00. As it turns out, it was broken upon arrival, but I got quite lucky here. It's still under warranty, so I got it fixed within 24 hours. Yay! Luck! We love getting lucky occassionally.
I went backpacking with a friend last weekend. We did an 18 mile hike between noon Saturday and 3pm on Sunday. The weather was spectacular, and I mean perfect. It could not have been any better. I don't backpack with others very often, and I'm happy to say that it was really fun. And fun in it's own way too, which is good, because I know I'll be backpacking alone most of the time.
I still have not written this trip up at astrogirl or added it to my AT mileage log. I suppose I should do those things before much more time passes and I forget.
So, my employers sister company declared bankruptcy. I may yet have the dubious distinction of working for a company when they went bankrupt. Let's hope they don't stiff us like the other company stiffed their employees, the bastards.
It's Domokun, or turd monster, as he's called in Dana's pictorials.
According to the Japanese TV conglomco that owns the character: DOMO is a strange creature born from an egg. One day he fell into Usajii's house, the old rabbit likes TV. After that he began to love watching TV. He is gentle and strong. When he is in a bad mood,he breaks wind.
Excuse me, but how fucking funny is that?! The "break wind" part is translated the same in both places it is used, but one says 'bad mood' and one says 'bored'. I think they are serious about the farting. Hee.
More helpful information about Domokun is included, like:
Favorite food: Seasoned beef with potatoes
Disliked food: Apple(There seems a deep mystery in his DNA)
