Long Time No Update

Another 10 whole days have passed since I've gotten around to typing anything here.  Yeah, I suck.  Do I want to retire this thing?  I don't know.  Last time I said I was going on hiatus, I didn't, so maybe if I say *that*, I'll be inspired to write.

We are taking a little trip to Florida this weekend.  We'll get to visit with my dad and stepmother and we'll come home on the Auto Train with a new car.  Lest I jinx anything, I'm not saying anything about the car except that it is both interesting and a good deal, money wise.  We are flying down there.  I don't really expect that to be very interesting.  We have to leave at 7am to go to Baltimore (it's a one-way flight and only Southwest makes that cheap), which, while being better than having to leave at 5am, is still too early.

Next weekend, I may backpack.  We'll see.  Already it was 48 this morning, which means a morning frost is not far away.  Especially in the mountains.

Work sucks in some ways, and is good in others.  The sucky part is this:  I feel like my boss sees me as a junior programmer to whom he can assign any crap that no one else wants to do.  I feel like my special skills aren't being used, which is a waste of GiantMediaCo's money.  I'm not sure whether I really care about GiantMediaCo's money, but I do care about the fact of this because I find it demoralizing.

The good part is that I do enjoy the work, and I'm not bored.

I changed offices today, which I always find disruptive.  I think my new roommate is a better personality fit than the two I left in the other office.  Now all four of us are using the offices the way they were designed to work.  Before this, there were three of us in a two-person office.

My new roommate, however, feels the same way about the boss' treatment, so I'm planning on fomenting a little dissent.
