Oh my.
I have oodles of referrals from The Gus. I appreciate all the attention, but I think he made me out to be possibly more of a nut than I actually am. Oh, well. I suppose I made myself look like one[1]. Besides, not only is it his journal, it's one that I read daily, so I can't criticize his take on things. I keep going back for more, after all, so I must find The Gus World View to be interesting.
I don't know if frugality is particularly related to Taurus Rising. What I do know is that the lever that has frugality on one end and getting-everything-just-the-way-you-want it on the other is not related to gender. I also know that the other Taurus Rising that I know is closer to me than to Gus on the scale of when the wallet gets broken out and when it doesn't. If I were Gus, I'd be looking elsewhere for my cheapness. My personal cheapness? Who knows. I have lots of ugly aspects to various planets in my chart including some really tight squares Venus, the planet that likes to acquire shiny things.[2]
I also wouldn't describe Tino as extravagant. We do, however, have completely different ideas about money and the significance (that spelling looks totally wrong but is correct according to dictionary.com) of spending it.[3]
I run hot and cold on astrology, actually. For instance, I met many, many new people while hiking last year. I didn't ask even ONE of them for a birthdate. 1999 was a cold streak for me. Earlier this year, I was very frustrated at my job at Broadwing because I couldn't really do any programming on their systems. I decided that if I didn't do some, my skills would atrophy. I recalled that I'd always wanted some tool to group charts by characteristics. I took my text charts and moved them to the Linux box, and I wrote a Perl script[4] that would do what I like. Basically, I can ask it to return the names of everyone in my files that has, say, Saturn in the first house or the Moon in Capricorn or something. It was so enlightening for me (and it made so much sense to look at stuff that way) that I'm back on a hot streak.
I gained my initial knowledge of the subject from the GEnie BBS on astrology. There were mostly pros on there, and through some miracle, they didn't mind dealing and answering questions from enthusiastic amatuers. Later, I switched to Delphi (which was more like an ISP, but was really still a BBS) and the pros over there used the boards to get business. Obviously, they weren't too keen on answering questions for free.
