Actually, it's a comforting thought

I've given a lot of thought to why I seem to have become one of the tinfoil hat set. The conspiracy theorists give me comfort because if they are to be believed, our government is very smart indeed. Their main fear is, in fact, that the U.S. could take over the world with it's incredible totalitarian plot.

What really scares me is the thought that 9-11 caught our government downright flat-footed. They were so unprepared for this, in fact, that a plane crashed into the Pentagon! If I accept the conspiracy arguments, this was all planned. Or, at least they had some inkling that it might happen. In any case, I think it's become clear to all of us that the government's reaction to the attack indicates that they don't have a clue what to do to stop us from being attacked again.

I think I'll go consult the crank papers for a emotional lift now, thanks.

What's scarier than thinking no one's in charge?
