I can't believe I blew off work to do yard work on Friday. It was still better than being at work.
Saturday and today were all about yard work. On Saturday, I raked[1] even more and harvested more rocks[2] to build another flower bed in the upper part of the driveway. Today, I planted two black raspberry bushes (of the Cumberland variety) and harvested rocks to line about 50 more feet of the driveway, this time in the lower portions. I wanted to make sure the evil power company[3] doesn't drive up into the power cut except in the appointed spot. After all, I will likely be planting more berry bushes in the area I used today. Yes, I know I will lose many berries to wildlife. We have, in fact, some raspberry bushes already on the property. I just want some for a treat now and again. If I get pissed off, I'll cover the grouping of them with that mesh stuff people use for this purpose.
Speaking of wildlife, Tino started to help me harvest rocks but saw a snake within just a few minutes[4]. It was a tiny infant snake. It was black with a red stripe running down its body. It's head was roundish, so I'm guessing it's non-venemous. If you know what kind of snake this is, write me. I'd like to know since there are almost certainly more of them lurking about.
[1]This involves raking an area adjacent to the driveway, raking the leaves onto a tarp and moving the leaves to the other side of the driveway. It sounds pointless, I know, but one side of the driveway has grass and one has trees. Now the tree side has a lot more leaves.
[2]Did I mention we're taking rocks from all over the property so that we can use them to line the driveway? I will refer to this activity as harvesting rocks. If we don't use them for something, after all, they'll just annoy us.
