I spent most of the daylight hours this weekend painting. This was no great loss as it was raining and 50' or less all fucking weekend. Amanda came out for a visit, which was cool. Amanda and Tino went to Winchester to fetch me more paint, and since Winchester has a mall with mall food, she's been to the sad little mall now too.[1]
She and I watched Kissed together. Tino didn't like it (I still don't really know why. Molly Parker is the star!) so he retreated to the garage to tinker with the Miata (which is looking faboo with it's new top and it's paint rubbed out). We both liked the film and agreed that it's amazing it was ever made at all. The lighting was exquisite and Miss Parker looked luminous, as usual.
The bedroom is now something that Ralph Lauren says is "Resort White." I say it's pink, but he says it's white. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.[2] It's pinkness will require some alterations to the decor. The little bedside lamps need to be replaced because they are green (s'ok, they were cheapies and don't light adequately anyway). We may repaint he moldings a different white. We may repaint the bathroom some color that will compliment the pink.
In any case, I'm not repainting that bedroom. The thing about painting is that a room seems like square and four-cornered until you try to paint it. Then you notice stuff like the ceiling having an odd pitch or the fact that with the doors and windows there are, like, 10 corners to deal with. That room has part of the ceiling that is at least 10 feet high. This requires masking and painting on a ladder instead of just a step stool. Big time ass-pain not to be repeated.
The dining room is now "Devonshire" and it looks fucking fantastic with the existing molding paint. We are very happy with the dining room. <Koff>.
Next weekend will be the Tino Birthday Extravaganza. We will be screening a new collection of old bizarre films, including a 20-minute ode to the joys of cling film, Duck and Cover and other funny things about hygiene, table manners and the dangers of drugs. They are MPEGs, but I think we can pump them into the TV from my computer, if nothing else.
Make your reservations now!
There will chocolate cake, of course.
Please note the new feature at right. I will not be doing calendars for the other months, but I think I'll do them in the future. We'll see how that works out, but at the moment, I'm dissatisfied with the navigation on the site. This makes that better for me, and I want to keep all the readers I have. See, Google refuses wont index dogandponyshow.org, and I have no idea why. If you all have any insights on this, I'd like to hear them.
[1]This is not to say that Amanda has a preference for mall food, that's a Tino preference, and Amanda and Tino have done one heck of a lot of shopping together over the years.
[2]Tino concurred that based on the chip in the store under their special paint lights, he would have thought it was white too. I mean, I knew it had some pink *in* it, but whites always have some color. I wanted something warm that wouldn't look green with the tree-filtered light coming in the window. Pink will work, but this is a very blue pink and not subtle enough.
