link down, cable problem?

Remember yesterday when I said it would be faster to wait for an IP address?  Now I'm not so sure.  They called Eric this morning and asked for the gateway address and said they'd call back later with an IP.  They have still not called.  What the hell?  How could it take so long to come up with a lousy IP address?

It's now 4pm, and I know where my IP address is.  It's here.  Off I go to install Solaris.

4:07pm   Link down -- cable problem?  If I have a bad ethernet card on this thing I'm going to scream.  Or cry.

6:10pm   Damn.  I definitely have a problem with the ethernet interface.  I bet Internal Computing doesn't manage to fix it this week.  That SUCKS.

This means this whole week will be a loss, basically.  Shit.  I actually wanted to accomplish something, believe it or not.
