You can take a commuter train to the Appalachian Trail, if you happen to live in NY.  I believe the station is accessible from NY22.

I think this is an abandoned cemetary.  You can't read the iron sign in this photo, but it says "Gate of Heaven".  Overall, it was a spooky spot, and it's spookiness was enhanced by the fire siren going off in the distance as I was passing through here.
