6/21 ~ Blue Ridge Summit, PA (4.8 miles)
I did not sleep well in the shelter. I was glad to be out of the rain, but I had one of those experiences where I worked SO HARD that I couldn't sleep. I was just BEYOND sleep, though lying down and not moving was a reward in itself.
My maildrop isn't here! My mom sent me a package though. I'm doing my laundry now and it looks like I'll have to get food at the convenience store for the next day to hold me until South Mountain. My maildrop will be forwarded farther than that, but I can resupply there. I also have no map for this section because I bounced it to S. Mountain instead of Blue Ridge Summit. Of course, my maps for the next 70 miles or so are in that maildrop that I DIDN'T GET.
To add insult to injury, my shuttle to here cost 2x as much because I had to go back and get my watch from the bathrooms at the Pen Mar Park. I'm glad to have my watch back, but D'oh anyway. That climb down off High Rock was no picnic, let me tell you. It involved slippery rocks from last night's rain, again surrounded by poison ivy. Many of the steps down were longer than I could easy reach and involved jumping...on to a wet slanty surface. I was very glad to have my poles.
