FYI: I'm ripping a bunch more CDs for my work place enjoyment. This does not mean that I'm admitting defeat on the working-at-home thing. I'm still pissed about that, and I'm trying to be patient. So, anyway, maybe you'll see some more variety...but then again, maybe not. The one thing I do like about my commute is the fact that I can listen to the same song on repeat all the way here if I like. Do I actually do that? Not usually, but I do listen to the same song two or three times in a row.
When you buy a house in Reston (or, I assume, anywhere with deed restrictions), you typically have to review some documents and then have three days to back out of the deal based on your findings. Let me just say that this house is so fucked up that it has a Power Point document with multiple photographs explaining just how fucked up it is. Is there any point in mentioning to the sellers that springing this on buyers with no forewarning is stupid? Especially when you do it on the same day you're refusing to pay to fix a broken window? And when the docs clearly say that your house has items still unrepaired after being cited for them three years in a row?
Actually, a lot of things in that cluster were allowed to go downhill after the parking structure was condemned, and I suspect that after that situation has been fixed (very soon now, they've begun demolition), they'll start enforcing the rules again.
One thing is now worse: the seller's realtor faxed the power point doc to my realtor with a note saying that "none of these items that are out of compliance need to be fixed right now". I think this is untrue based on what we read in the documents. The broken window, for one, is a cluster violation and DOES need to be fixed right now...and they've already refused to fix that.
OK, we've decided to talk to the author of said Power Point doc whom we met in the parking lot when we first looked at the house. Maybe we can go over there tonight and check out the situation, the house and the demolition going on. Of course, this house has a shared wall with HIS house, so I'm betting he has a few differing opinions from the present owners.
