Stupid Poetic Justice

So, I was looking at the box for the Carr's Cracker Collection, and I was thinking that it might be fun to have a get-together where you get as close as you can to serving everything to match the picture of the "Serving Suggestion" on the box. Maybe I've been watching too much Martha Stewart, or maybe this is merely a testament to the graphic artist who created that Carr's cracker box.

Martha does know from presentation. Martha also knows from stuff.

Martha is on WDCA as we speak, running a cranberry harvester in Massachusetts. I'm not kidding. She just *happenned* to be on. I love her sweater. It even looks good with hip waders.

I've decided I'm going to share my opinions about the nonsense going on down in Florida.

  • No re-voting. That's a really bad idea. People will not make the same choice they made before because the third-party votes would mostly evaporate. There was an interesting point made in Salon about this. There's no fucking way Bush would have the guts to do that. And it's a shame too, because he's get the credit for being a big man.

  • Give Gore his hand recounts in those four counties. What's the harm in that? Fighting that makes Bush look like he's got something to hide, and they can't call the election until the overseas ballots come in anyway, so doing that won't cause a further delay.

  • I think the Repubs are being smug about the overseas vote. They are trying to say that Bush would get the same percentage of the military vote as Dole. Bush is not Dole. Dole is a man who served admirably and made a genuine sacrifice for the good of the country. Bush is practically a draft dodger, as was Clinton.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen, we've elected a dumbass. And don't say YOU didn't do it. We all did it with our apathy in the primaries and in preceeding elections. If people had been this engaged earlier in the year, maybe this would be John McCain instead.

  • catiecake is right about the electoral college. I know it seems like a miscarriage of justice this time, and I know it was designed for an elitist system, but it still has a purpose and she points that out for you.

As long as I'm talking about Martha, we made her Pumpkin Spice cookies last weekend. They are *very* good, but I pumped the ingredients and the yield we got through Mastercook and they have, are you sitting down, 100 calories a piece! I never would have guessed that. They are rich and delicious, but they don't feel exhorbitant. Well, they are. Cookies in general are very costly to the dieter, as are scones.

I've been very careful this week, and I seem to have stopped losing weight. I think I mentioned this before, but I tried harder after that. I don't know if I should redouble my efforts or just be satisfied at maintaining my 40 lb. loss through the holiday season, which will be hard enough.
