Why I Love The Internet, Part MMXXVII

I'll give you a shiny nickel if you can tell me what number that is without using the internet. Don't try to fool me. I'll know.

I just found a place to download a live set of Slint's from Club Dreamerz[1] in Chicago in 1989. Do I even need to explain how fucking cool that is?

Here it is, if you want it too (all three of you who might actually like Slint. I'm under no illusions that others share my musical tastes.)

What a fucking world in which we live, eh?

I also found a fabulous streaming radio thingy at rubberpants.com, if you like moody, dark chicago-style post-punk rock. He has a whole STREAM of this shit. It's an amazing thing.

OK, I just broke into the mp3's and there are no lyrics on Good Morning, Captain! Nonetheless, it's so wonderful that I could just cry over the fact that I wasn't there.

[1]Dreamerz was a hole of a club on Milwaukee Avenue between Division and Damen. They went out of business in the early or mid-90's by virtue of the fact that they were in Wicker Park before Wicker Park was cool. It changed over to a bar called Nick's, which wasn't very cool at all. Not that Dreamerz was a good place to see a show -- it wasn't, but you know, we all have a few fond memories of the place anyway.
