I Want My Elephant

Colin Powell had the audacity to bring up Affirmative Action. How dare he bring up an issue that could cause conflict within the party! He deviated from the script, and judging by the tepid reaction to his statement (ie you can't be against affirmative action and be *for* giving money to 'special interests'), he confused the audience. I suppose the Democrats will be just as scripted.

In a bit of further Republican convention nonsense, John McCain said to an NPR reporter that 'isn't it about time that public radio should start supporting themselves?'. What irony. NPR is doing a good job of covering the convention, a lot better than the papers and the Teevee, IMHO. Would he prefer to be ignored? I'd like to say clearly that both conventions are pointless from my point of view because my views are simply not represented by either of them. Keeping that in mind, I've found the "liberal media" coverage of the Republican convention to be balanced and thorough.

Pretty much all of George W. Bush's sound clips annoyed the hell out of me. I wonder if Gore will do the same?
