Gravel Springs Hut

09/2001 ~ SNP North District

In September, I did two of day hikes (both loops, which why it took two hikes) to close up my mileage in the North District between Gravel Springs Hut and Elkwallow Wayside.

In general, I continue to be impressed with the treadway in the park.  There are many views, and all the ascents are very well graded.  I got a chance to check out some of the other trails in the park, and they were even better, tread wise, than the AT.  If I pulled out a map, I could probably make sense of what I did with the side trails, but it wasn't simple, and I'm not going to bother.  Whether you are an AT hiker or not, the park is well worth a visit, and fantastic views abound whether you get out of the car or not.

I'm looking forward to doing the rest of the park.
