It may seem like I'm not writing anything, but I'm just not writing it here. I did another 8 mile section of the AT on Monday, and you can read that here. At some point, I'll have a long talk with my journal here regarding the whole idea of section hiking the AT. I've had yet another change of heart about that, and it's mostly because this year is not going to bring what I expected it to bring.
I also wrote a rant about trekking poles triggered by an on-going flame war (which I am avoiding participation in by writing said rant and allowing the venom to escape that way) on a mailing list.
Oh, and I'm not really updating Kinghell Networks. I'd like to say that my big plans for that site were for my own satisfaction, but once I checked the site meter stuff and saw that no one reads that site...I rapidly lost interest. I guess my motivations were not quite so pure.
I ran around the lake again today, and it was a tad bit chilly. It was just beginning to snow at the time, and the geese and ducks behind the house and around the lake always cheer me up somehow. They just go about their birdy business, whatever the weather. I also admire their well-engineered protection from the cold.
The sad part is that I have to run again tomorrow. I wish I didn't, but I need to get in three sessions of fitness related things a week, and I may not hike on Saturday. On the other hand, I may do Denton Shelter to Chester Gap...or something. I can't count on it anyway. If I don't head for the trail, there isn't really anywhere to run in Front Royal. It's WAY too hilly for that, and there's no shoulder on the road anyway and that makes me nervous. We're talking about neighbors with big trucks who shoot automatic weapons for fun. While I don't believe they would deliberatly hurt me, they seem a bit...high spirited.
