I reside on Capitol Hill in our nation's political center, Washington, DC. I moved here in June, 1996 after spending the first 29 years of my life in Chicago. I work as a computer consultant, and I think I've finally settled on a work-path that I'm happy with. Under this guise, I've worked for NASA, and ANS Communications/America OnLine. At the moment, I write Perl for a subscription site at Disclosure.
The bulk of my college coursework was in Electronic Media, although I've got a large background of finance from the first two years of college. I thought I wanted to be an analyst, and I did to junior analyst sort of work for a while. I discovered that it didn't suit me. I went on to take an accounting position at an art gallery, primarily because I wanted to work for an art gallery. Accounting ain't so bad, though it doesn't offer anywhere near as much opporunity for creativity as programming. In fact, creative accounting is not a GAAP, not by a long shot.
I discovered internet world from the launch pad of alt.society.generation-x during the spring of 1994. Unfortunately, the newsgroup is no longer much of an example of what the people are really like. If you take a look at the FAQ, you might get more of an idea.
I'm one of those people who met their significant other on the internet. It's frightening, I know. In fact, we didn't really meet on the internet, but we met because of it, at a tingle in October, 1995.
Here's my resume, in case you're curious.
