So, I'm again surviving the diet, and it even allowed me a couple of beers with a friend who had just bought a cool new car. If it were me, I would have been thinking about the car (ie worrying) the whole time I was in Mr. Smith's. I hope he's not like me and he wasn't.
The water at the country house is free of bacteria, even harmless ones. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it beyond the cloudiness, but...it's ugly and I'll be drinking bottled water just for psychological reasons.
I've exercised the woman's perogative and changed my mind. Over Easter weekend, I will not be doing any part of NJ/NY. After going over the available literature, it looks like a boring piece of trail. Two of the shelters have no water source. There are scary bear warnings on all the guides this year (they claim there is a bear per acre). Basically, there's no good reason for me to do this piece of trail until I want to apply for a 2000-miler patch, and that's something I may never do anyway.
It's now in the bucket with PA -- trail I won't do until much later or maybe not ever.
I've decided to do a 50ish mile section of Central Virginia instead. Also, I'm not finishing "the roller coaster" this weekend. Tino vetoed the necessary shuttling, so I'll plan that some other way and knock off part of SNP this weekend instead.
Let's hope I don't freeze my tail off in my new sleeping bag.
