Robots Robots Robots
That’s the name of the fabric that I used for this purse:

The interior is some Japanese fabric from my stash. The robot fabric is, of course, Japanese and is from Crafty Planet.
I followed the instructions at tinyhappy as I’ve never made a lined purse before, at least not that was usable. I added more interior pockets to fit my gadgets. It’s really quick and easy and repeats will be faster, of course. There is hand sewing involved, which seems like it takes longer than everything else, and I hate it because it gives me a hand cramp. The empty gadget pocket is for my camera, which I was obviously using.
Here’s the inside of the bag:

I really wanted to make one out of fake fur, but Tino talked me out of it. He’s right — it would not be practical. One could say “the hell with practical”, but this particular fur is also a pain to sew with. It’s just something I had on hand — I should probably pick much better fur for a bag. I’ve wanted one since I read about the whole idea in Wife Dressing, a book that admonishes one not to make breakfast in one’s pajamas. It’s pretty interesting though, and I did enjoy reading it.
I did take pictures of the khaki capris, but the only decent one of me is too blurry to use. I’ll get something eventually.
I put a whole bunch of patterns up for sale on eBay. It’s always nerve-wracking at the beginning as nothing seems to happen on auctions until the last day. Except for the Anne Adams lot, the starting prices on the lots are very low to, hopefully, generate attention.
I have joined the Fabric Stash Contest at Pattern Review. The interior of the purse was from my stash, but it’s not much fabric. I just wanted the bag. It’s always good to use up fabric you’ve had for a while or, in some cases, for ages.
Gosh, there’s really a couple of blog posts here, eh?

[…] After that, I made a green suede purse out of a pretty stiff pig suede. You’ve seen plenty of pig suede at the mall if you were shopping in the 80s. It can be very nice, or it can be stiff. This is too stiff, but the return shipping was expensive, so I kept the two hides. I used the tinyhappy tutorial again. I posted all about that here. […]
